Dyson Airsmooth lands in UAE to fix your hot brush problem

Dyson has spent a decade pulling hair care toward airflow and away from brute heat, and its latest device finally takes on one of the most crowded categories in beauty tech. The Dyson Airsmooth, the company’s first dedicated hot-air brush, is now on sale in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Hot-air brushes are nothing new. Budget favourites like Revlon’s One-Step turned the dry-and-style brush into a mass-market staple years ago, and most follow the same formula of a heated barrel with ball-tipped bristles. Dyson’s argument is that this formula is the problem. The company says conventional designs cause snagging, uneven heat and breakage, and its answer is a patented dual-bristle layout rather than a more powerful motor.

The two bristle types sit together in a teardrop arrangement. One set uses a looped shape that collapses as it moves through hair, which Dyson says releases strands more easily and reduces pulling at the scalp. The other set, called PivotFlex, has an open base that spreads out high-pressure airflow and can bend up to 90 degrees, so hair wraps and releases without tangling. The goal, according to Dyson, is to create enough tension to smooth and stretch hair in a single pass without the tug of war that makes brush styling tiring and damaging.

Heat is managed by the same kind of control system found across Dyson’s styling range, which checks temperature 100 times per second. The brush also runs on universal voltage, a practical detail for a region where many people travel frequently. Dyson says the Airsmooth suits straight, wavy, curly and coily hair, with a particular focus on stretching curls and prepping hair for further styling. That claim will matter most to people with textured hair, who have often been poorly served by tools designed around straight hair.

The Airsmooth also fills an obvious gap in Dyson’s lineup. The Supersonic dryer arrived in 2016, the Airwrap followed in 2018, and later came the Bluetooth-connected Airwrap i.d., the wet-to-dry Airstrait and the Airwrap Co-anda 2x with double the air pressure. Until now, a simple round-brush blowout was the one job Dyson had left to rivals.

Some important details are still missing. Dyson hasn’t listed regional pricing, weight, heat settings or airflow figures. It is also recommending its own Omega leave-in spray alongside the brush, a familiar move to sell more of its ecosystem. How much the Airsmooth costs will decide whether it’s a smart upgrade from a basic brush or another expensive Dyson for people who already own the rest.
