It’s official: Xiaomi’s electric cars have finally arrived in the UAE

The SU7 and YU7 have been a common sight on UAE roads for a while, but until now every one of them arrived through a private importer or a grey-market dealer, with no local warranty and no official place to get it serviced. That changes with Xiaomi’s formal UAE launch through Gargash Prime Automotive, a new premium division of the Gargash Group. The group has been doing business in the country since 1918 and has handled brands including Mercedes-Benz, Alfa Romeo and GAC.

Three models are on sale. The SU7 electric sedan starts at AED 169,900, the YU7 electric SUV at AED 184,900 and the SkyNomad range-extender SUV at AED 209,900. Across 13 trims, the range runs from a 320hp rear-wheel-drive SU7 to the three-motor SU7 Ultra, which has 1,548hp, a claimed 0-100km/h time under two seconds and a price of AED 375,900. Sitting in between, the AED 299,900 YU7 GT offers just over 1,000hp, a level of acceleration that usually costs far more.

On the entry SU7 and YU7, a 73kWh LFP battery runs on an 800V platform. The dealer quotes a 30 to 80 percent DC fast charge of about 18 minutes for the sedan and 20 minutes for the SUV. Both come with Xiaomi’s lidar-based driver assistance, its HyperOS cabin software and over-the-air updates. All quoted ranges use China’s CLTC cycle, which is known to be generous. The SU7 Pro’s 902km rating, for example, is unlikely to hold up on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road with the air conditioning on full in summer.

The SkyNomad may be the most practical choice for the region. It combines a 52kWh battery with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that only generates electricity and never drives the wheels. That gives it a combined range of up to 1,705km on the N90 versions, which matters for long drives between emirates or into Oman.

Ownership support is the main reason to buy locally. Each car comes with a warranty of up to five years or 150,000km and servicing of up to 60,000km. Leasing is also available from AED 3,899 a month, which should appeal to buyers who are wary of resale values on a new Chinese brand.

Delivery will take patience, though. Cars are built to order. Entry trims, the SU7 Ultra and two SkyNomad N90 variants are due in December, and everything else arrives in February 2027. Bookings are open online and at a booth in Etihad Mall in Al Khawaneej. Strong specs and sharp pricing will attract interest, but Gargash Prime’s after-sales service once the first cars are on the road will decide whether this launch succeeds.
