Geely’s 410 hp Monjaro hybrid promises 1,095 km range in the UAE

THEA C.

AGMC has added the Geely Monjaro EM-i plug-in hybrid to its UAE lineup, positioning the mid-size SUV as a higher-output option that claims up to 410 hp from a three-motor setup with intelligent e-AWD. In that configuration the company says the vehicle covers 0-100 km/h in roughly 5.83 seconds while quoting a combined range of up to 1,095 km and an electric-only distance of 130 km under the NEDC cycle. A DC fast charge is listed at about 15 minutes for a 30-80 percent top-up, with AC charging from 25-100 percent taking around 4.2 hours; vehicle-to-load output reaches 6.6 kW.

Those figures come with the usual caveats attached to NEDC testing and apply mainly to the more powerful version. AGMC has not yet detailed the lower-output variant, battery capacity, full trim structure, pricing, or an on-sale date. The powertrain itself is Geely’s E-Motive Intelligence (EM-i) system, which pairs an engine claiming 46.5 percent thermal efficiency with an 11-in-1 E-DHT hybrid drive rated at up to 92.5 percent efficiency. Cargo space is listed at 633 litres, expanding to 2,183 litres with the rear seats folded.

Inside, the cabin centres on a 15.4-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, with four-zone voice control, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, built-in 4G connectivity, over-the-air updates and 15W wireless charging as standard. The gear selector moves to the steering column. Higher trims add a 25.6-inch windscreen head-up display, a 16-speaker FLYME SOUND system with headrest speakers, front-seat massage functions, a nearly flat-reclining passenger seat, ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof. Sixteen driver-assistance features are included, covering adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and blind-spot detection, plus a 540-degree camera system that offers a transparent chassis view.

The Monjaro EM-i sits alongside the existing EX5 EM-i plug-in hybrid, which AGMC offers with 317 hp and a claimed 1,065 km combined range from AED 89,900. Geely has already established the petrol Monjaro as a volume player in the UAE, and the plug-in version extends that model into the growing new-energy segment that Chinese brands are actively expanding. Whether the combination of claimed performance, long NEDC range and rapid DC charging proves competitive will depend on real-world efficiency, final pricing and how quickly the car reaches showrooms. Until those details arrive, the Monjaro EM-i remains a high-output hybrid option whose practical advantages over the EX5 EM-i and rival PHEVs still need to be confirmed on the road.
