Disney+ has added a new Turkish series to its regional lineup with the premiere of Reminder, a romantic dramedy starring Hande Erçel and Barış Arduç. The show, which is now available for streaming in the UAE, blends contemporary romance with a subtle layer of fantasy as two estranged lovers are drawn back together by a cryptic notification.
Set against the backdrop of Istanbul’s energy and the surreal terrain of Cappadocia, Reminder centers on Deniz, a celebrity architect, and Güneş, an influencer and editor, who have just ended their engagement. Their paths cross unexpectedly the same evening they both receive a mysterious message on their phones, triggering a series of events that force them to reconsider their relationship. The plot leans into themes of timing, fate, and the complications of modern love.
Directed by Özgür Önurme and penned by Ahmet Vatan, Reminder is produced by O3 Medya and Saner Ayar. The cast also includes Başak Gümülcinelioğlu, Alper Saldıran, Gizem Sevim, İlayda Ildır, Fatih Al, Sezin Akbaşoğulları, Melis Minkarı, and Feyyaz Şerifoğlu, adding depth to the ensemble and expanding the narrative beyond the core couple.
Disney+ released the first four episodes on June 25, with additional episodes scheduled to drop weekly.
While Reminder taps into familiar rom-com structures, its appeal lies in its attempt to ground emotional storytelling in culturally rich settings and a slightly unconventional twist. As streaming platforms increasingly look to international content to diversify their libraries, series like Reminder show how regional storytelling can find a broader audience through localized releases.
