MrBeast’s Beast Games crowns its first winner with $10 million prize

The online sensation known as MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, has taken his brand of high-octane entertainment to a whole new level with Prime Video’s Beast Games. This isn’t your typical reality competition; it’s a colossal spectacle, a testament to MrBeast’s flair for the dramatic and Amazon MGM Studios’ willingness to push the boundaries of television.

Beast Games started with a staggering 1,000 contestants, all vying for a grand prize that ballooned from $5 million to a jaw-dropping $10 million. The journey to the finale was a gauntlet of outlandish challenges, testing everything from physical prowess to strategic thinking. Mini-games and stunts whittled down the massive field, creating a pressure-cooker environment where alliances were forged and broken, and fortunes could change in an instant.

MrBeast himself was front and center, not just as co-creator alongside Sean Klitzner, Tyler Conklin, and Mack Hopkins, but also as the show’s energetic host. His signature enthusiasm, familiar to anyone who’s seen his online stunts and giveaways, permeated every scene.  The competition unfolded across an expansive set, including “Beast City” and “Beast Island,” upping the ante with each new location. The challenges, both individual and team-based, were designed to expose the true nature of the competitors, revealing their inner heroes or villains as they fought for the ever-increasing prize.

The finale pitted two remarkable contestants, 830 (Twana Barnett) and 831 (Jeffrey Randall Allen), against each other. Their stories added an emotional depth to the competition: Barnett, a professional wrestler and actress, shared her experience with homelessness and her desire to help others; Allen’s son suffers from a rare disease, and he hoped to use the winnings for research and a cure. After surviving a series of grueling eliminations, they faced off in a game of chance. Allen, blindfolded, had to choose the briefcase containing the $10 million. In a twist that surprised everyone, he guessed correctly on his very first try.

The unexpected win, while perhaps anticlimactic for viewers, was a life-changing moment for Allen. His joyous celebration, sliding down a mountain of cash, was a fitting end to a wild ride. Even Barnett’s disappointment was tempered by MrBeast’s encouragement and a hint at a possible return.

Beast Games wasn’t just about the final winner. Over 85 contestants earned prizes throughout the competition, totaling over $20 million. Every participant received $2,000 just for showing up, with others receiving larger sums for bowing out at different stages.

With the first season wrapped, MrBeast is already teasing the possibility of a second, urging viewers to rewatch the series for clues about the future of Beast Games. This high-stakes, high-energy competition has clearly made a splash, leaving audiences wondering what MrBeast and his team will dream up next.
