Apple TV+ has renewed the detective comedy “Bad Monkey” for a second season. Vince Vaughn will reprise his role as Andrew Yancy, a suspended police detective navigating the quirky criminal underworld of the Florida Keys.

Showrunner Bill Lawrence expressed his enthusiasm for continuing the series, praising author Carl Hiaasen, whose novel served as the basis for the first season. The show’s ensemble cast, including Natalie Martinez, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, and Michelle Monaghan, is expected to return for the second season.

The first season of “Bad Monkey” premiered in August and concluded in October. The finale left viewers with several unresolved plot threads, including a potential new case for Yancy to investigate.  Fans of Hiaasen’s work may find clues to the second season’s storyline in his 2016 sequel novel, “Razor Girl,” which also features the character of Andrew Yancy.
