Get ready for another dose of action-packed family fun. Apple TV+ has officially greenlit a sequel to its hit film “The Family Plan,” with Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan reprising their roles as Dan and Kate Morgan.
The original film, which premiered last year, quickly became the most-watched movie on the streaming platform. Now, the Morgans are set to return, with Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby also reprising their roles as the Morgan children.
The sequel, once again directed by Simon Cellan Jones, will take the family to Europe for a Christmas vacation. While Dan hopes for a picture-perfect getaway, his past catches up to them in unexpected ways, leading to more hilarious chaos and thrilling escapades.
David Coggeshall, who wrote the first film, will return to pen the sequel. Mark Wahlberg will also produce through his production company, Municipal Pictures, alongside Stephen Levinson. Skydance Media will once again produce the film, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger at the helm.
The “Family Plan” sequel joins a growing lineup of Apple Original Films, including the upcoming “The Gorge” starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, Guy Ritchie’s “Fountain of Youth” with Natalie Portman and John Krasinski, and the highly anticipated “F1” starring Brad Pitt.
Apple TV+ has been enjoying a wave of success with its original films, including the recent hits “Wolfs” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and “The Instigators” with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.
With the “Family Plan” sequel, Apple is clearly aiming to build on its winning streak, delivering another crowd-pleasing action-comedy for its global audience.
