Apple TV+ hits the ground running in 2024 with its gripping new British crime drama, “Criminal Record”. The first two episodes, already garnering a perfect 100% recommended score on Rotten Tomatoes, promise a season of suspenseful twists and thought-provoking social commentary.

The show centers around Detective June Lenker (Cush Jumbo), a tenacious young officer determined to unearth the truth behind a decades-old murder conviction. Her relentless pursuit clashes with the seasoned instincts of Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty (Peter Capaldi), who seems more invested in protecting his past than pursuing justice.

Beyond the gripping whodunit, Criminal Record weaves a complex tapestry of social issues, tackling systemic racism and institutional failings within the British police force. This layered narrative is sure to spark conversations and challenge viewers’ perspectives.

Two episodes are available now, with new ones airing weekly on Wednesdays until the February 21st finale.

This powerful start proves Apple TV+ is hitting its stride in its fourth year. Don’t miss the upcoming Scorsese masterpiece Killers of the Flower Moon this Friday and the long-awaited Masters of the Air at the end of the month.
