Netflix is rolling out a strong slate of originals in October 2025, blending big-budget fantasy, gaming adaptations, true crime, and political drama.
The month kicks off with Monster: The Ed Gein Story (Oct. 3), the latest installment in Ryan Murphy’s anthology series. Starring Charlie Hunnam as the notorious Wisconsin killer, the series explores how Ed Gein’s crimes—robbing graves, committing murders, and fashioning trophies from human remains—shocked the mid-20th century and inspired horror icons from Psycho’s Norman Bates to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’s Leatherface. Laurie Metcalf and Tom Hollander co-star in this chilling new entry.
On October 14, Netflix premieres Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, an animated series adapting Tom Clancy’s stealth-action franchise. Liev Schreiber voices Sam Fisher, who is pulled out of retirement to mentor a rookie operative, only to find himself caught up in another globe-spanning conspiracy. With a mix of espionage, action, and stylized animation, the series expands the gaming franchise into new territory.
Kathryn Bigelow makes her return to narrative filmmaking with A House of Dynamite (Oct. 24), a political thriller set during a Cold War–era crisis. When a nuclear missile strikes Chicago from an unidentified source, the U.S. president and advisers must navigate the global fallout and decide how far to escalate. Starring Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, and Jared Harris, the film has already generated strong early reviews.
Closing the month is The Witcher: Season 4 (Oct. 30), with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia. The series continues to explore the fractured relationships between Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri as war and destiny separate them. With a reported $25 million budget per episode, Netflix is betting big on its flagship fantasy show, now entering a new era with a reimagined lead.
Together, these originals mark one of Netflix’s most diverse October lineups yet, offering horror, fantasy, action, and political suspense to anchor the season.
