Fox is doubling down on high-concept character dramas with its latest series order, Memory of a Killer, a psychological thriller slated for the 2025–2026 broadcast season. Described as a hybrid of 24 and House, the upcoming show promises a fast-paced, character-driven narrative centered on a morally complex lead. The announcement comes from Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn, who called the series “propulsive” and praised its “unrelenting character hook.”
Based on the 2003 Belgian crime drama De Zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer Case), Memory of a Killer will follow Angelo Ledda, a New York City hitman grappling with early-onset Alzheimer’s. To maintain cover, Ledda poses as a seemingly unremarkable photocopier salesman and leads a quiet life as a father. But as his memory begins to falter, the boundaries between his two identities blur—threatening his ability to stay hidden and survive. Fox describes the series as a redemptive story of a man “losing his memory but gaining a conscience,” suggesting that the character’s cognitive decline may become a vehicle for personal reckoning rather than just a narrative obstacle.
The series comes from screenwriters and executive producers Ed Whitmore and Tracey Malone, known for their work in character-rich crime dramas. They’re joined by executive producer Cathy Schulman of Welle Entertainment, with Arthur Sarkissian (Rush Hour), director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), and Peter Bouckaert of Eyeworks also on board.
This marks the second recent series from Fox to adapt an international drama. In early 2024, the network premiered Doc, based on the Italian series Doc – Nelle tue mani. That medical drama followed a doctor coping with memory loss after a traumatic accident, and was renewed for a second season after receiving a strong response from viewers.
While Memory of a Killer has yet to cast its lead, the series joins a growing trend of international adaptations with a psychological edge and morally conflicted protagonists. Its blend of cerebral tension, ethical ambiguity, and real-world medical challenges positions it as a potential standout in next year’s lineup.
The show is expected to premiere during the 2025–2026 season. More details, including casting and release windows, will likely be shared in the coming months.
