Fans prepare to journey back to Westeros! HBO today revealed Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as the stars of their newest ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff series. The show, based on George R.R. Martin’s beloved novellas, will chronicle the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Claffey), a valiant knight, and his young squire Egg (Ansell).
Set a century before the events of the original ‘Game of Thrones’, this prequel will immerse viewers in an era where the Targaryens still rule, and dragons are a fading memory. ‘The Hedge Knight’ marks the third series set in Martin’s expansive fantasy world, following the immensely popular ‘Game of Thrones’ and its recent hit ‘House of the Dragon’.
Martin’s ‘The Hedge Knight’ was the groundbreaking first novella in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ universe, published even before its companion novel ‘A Clash of Kings’. This series provides a thrilling glimpse into the rich history of Westeros.
Peter Claffey (formerly of ‘Bad Sisters’ and ‘Wreck’) brings his commanding presence to Ser Duncan the Tall, while Dexter Sol Ansell (‘Emmerdale Farm’, ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’) will portray the young and spirited Egg.
George R.R. Martin serves as writer and executive producer on ‘The Hedge Knight’, alongside Ira Parker. While no release date has been announced, fans can eagerly anticipate a return to the realm of knights, dragons, and political intrigue.
