Hold onto your dragons, fantasy fans! HBO has just renewed House of the Dragon for a third season, mere days before the second season even premieres.
This news shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who witnessed the phenomenal success of the first season. In fact, HBO executive Francesca Orsi had previously hinted that the show could run for at least four seasons. She also teased a shorter turnaround time between seasons 2 and 3, which is music to the ears of eager fans.

Orsi expressed her excitement for the show’s continuation, praising the “dragon-sized effort” put forth by the cast and crew in creating a second season that matches the heart and scale of the first. She also highlighted the network’s eagerness to continue the saga of House Targaryen and witness the team’s continued brilliance.
This renewal comes hot on the heels of George R.R. Martin’s announcement of another Game of Thrones spinoff in collaboration with playwright Eboni Booth. While the Ten Thousand Ships pilot was previously shelved, it appears that the story of Nymeria and the Rhoynar is getting a second chance.
Mark your calendars for the House of the Dragon season 2 premiere on OSN+ next Monday, June 17th. Get ready for more fire, blood, and epic battles for the Iron Throne!
