Buckle up, Bat-fans, because the finale of The Penguin just detonated on our screens, leaving a trail of chaos and intrigue across Gotham City! “A Great or Little Thing” wasn’t just a satisfying conclusion; it was a freakin’ explosion of ambition, betrayal, and enough twists to make your head spin faster than the Bat-Signal on a foggy night.

The Penguin (Episode 8)

WATCH ON OSN+

Let’s talk about Sofia Gigante, played with chilling brilliance by Cristin Milioti. This woman is a force of nature! We watched her evolve from a seemingly timid daughter of a mob boss into a stone-cold, power-hungry queenpin. Her journey was a wild ride, full of cunning maneuvers and ruthless ambition. She was like a chess master, strategically taking down her enemies one by one, proving that you don’t need brute force to conquer Gotham – just a sharp mind and a killer instinct.

But here’s the thing about Gotham: it’s a city that chews up and spits out even the most ambitious souls. Sofia learned this the hard way. Despite her best efforts to break free from her father’s legacy, she ultimately fell victim to the same patriarchal system that she fought so desperately against. It’s a tragic tale, but one that resonates with a raw, unsettling truth about the struggle for power in a world dominated by men.

And speaking of men, let’s not forget about the Penguin himself, Oz Cobblepot, brought to life with sinister charm by Colin Farrell. This guy went full-on villain in the finale, and it was both terrifying and mesmerizing to watch. Remember that scene where he strangles Vic? Yeah, that was some seriously dark stuff. Oz’s transformation from a somewhat sympathetic figure to a ruthless, cold-blooded killer was a masterclass in character development. By the end, you’re left with no doubt that this guy is a genuine threat, a force to be reckoned with in Gotham’s criminal underworld.

But hold on, there’s more! The finale wasn’t just about Sofia and Oz. It was a symphony of betrayal, with alliances shifting like the sands in the desert. The “bird story” that Sofia tells Oz and his mother? Pure genius! It’s a metaphor for the entire series, highlighting the cutthroat nature of survival in Gotham. Just when you think you’ve got the upper hand, someone comes along and knocks you off your perch.

Now, I’m not gonna lie, there were a few things that left me scratching my head. The aftermath of the Bliss plant explosion felt a bit rushed, and Vic’s storyline, while intriguing, ultimately fizzled out. But hey, no show is perfect, right?

Overall, The Penguin was a wild ride from start to finish. It exceeded all expectations, delivering a complex and gripping narrative that explored themes of power, gender, and the corrupting influence of ambition. The finale was a fitting conclusion to this dark and twisted chapter in Gotham’s history, leaving us eager for more.

So, what are you waiting for? Fire up OSN+ and dive into the gritty, captivating world of The Penguin. Just be prepared for some serious twists and turns along the way. You’ve been warned!
