The Days is a 5-episode miniseries on Netflix that tells the story of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster from the perspective of the people who were there. The series is based on the book of the same name by Ryûshô Kadota, and it was directed by Hideo Nakata, who is known for his work on horror films like Ringu and Pulse.
The series begins with a massive earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in 2011. The earthquake and tsunami caused widespread damage, including a meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. The series follows the people who were working at the power plant at the time of the disaster, as well as the people who were evacuated from the area.
The Days is a gripping look at one of the worst nuclear disasters in history. The series is well-directed, and it does a good job of conveying the fear factor, chaos, and uncertainty that people experienced in the wake of the disaster.
Of course the series is not without its flaws. We thought that some of the characters are underdeveloped, and the series can be slow-paced at times, but not to an extend to skip streaming it.
Overall, we thought The Days was a well-made and important series to watch and learn about the horrific disaster. Worth streaming.
