Game of Thrones fans rejoice: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms enters production

For fans of Game of Thrones yearning for a return to Westeros, rejoice! Although the original series may have concluded, the world it created continues to expand. Alongside the recently premiered House of the Dragon, HBO has begun production on another exciting spinoff: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

This new series delves into a different era of Westerosi history, adapting George R.R. Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight. Set roughly a century before the events of Game of Thrones (and a century after House of the Dragon), A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, a formidable knight known simply as “Dunk,” and his young squire, Egg. Their journey takes them across the Seven Kingdoms, encountering a realm where the Targaryen dynasty reigns supreme and the memory of dragons remains fresh.

The recently released production image offers a glimpse into the series. Towering over his fellow cast members, we see Peter Claffey, a former rugby union player, portraying the stalwart Ser Duncan. Joining him are Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen.

With a world shaped by powerful houses, lingering echoes of dragons, and the promise of grand destinies, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms promises to be a thrilling new chapter in the saga of Westeros. We, for one, are eagerly awaiting its arrival.
