Fans of “Shogun” rejoice! FX has officially confirmed that the captivating saga will continue with two additional seasons currently in development. While production dates have yet to be announced, the writing team is set to convene this summer, igniting excitement for the next chapter of this epic tale.

Since its premiere earlier this year, “Shogun” has garnered immense praise from critics, with Esquire hailing it as “the best TV show of the year” and TIME recognizing it as “a genuine masterpiece.” Based on James Clavell’s bestselling novel, the series transports viewers to 1600s Japan, amidst a burgeoning civil war. The story revolves around the cunning Lord Yoshii Toranaga (played by Hiroyuki Sanada), who finds himself in a desperate struggle for power against a coalition of enemies.

The arrival of a mysterious European ship, piloted by the enigmatic Englishman John Blackthorne (portrayed by Cosmo Jarvis), introduces a pivotal twist. Blackthorne possesses secrets that could potentially alter the balance of power in Japan, while simultaneously threatening the influence of his own adversaries, the Jesuit priests and Portuguese merchants. The fates of Toranaga and Blackthorne become intertwined with that of their translator, Toda Mariko (played by Anna Sawai), a Christian noblewoman harboring her own secrets and loyalties.

“Shogun” has shattered records, becoming FX’s most-watched show ever based on global streaming hours. While the first season concluded on April 23rd, all ten episodes are now available for streaming on Disney+, allowing fans to relive the drama and anticipation for the upcoming seasons.

Prepare to immerse yourself once again in the captivating world of “Shogun” as the saga continues to unfold. With its intricate plotlines, stunning visuals, and stellar performances, the series promises to deliver another enthralling chapter in this epic historical drama.
