Apple TV+ today released the trailer for “Sunny,” a darkly comedic mystery series set in Kyoto, Japan. Starring Rashida Jones as Suzie, an American woman whose life unravels after the mysterious disappearance of her husband and son, the show follows her unlikely friendship with Sunny, a domestic robot gifted to her by her husband’s company.
As Suzie and Sunny delve deeper into the truth behind her family’s disappearance, they uncover a dark and dangerous world. The series promises a thrilling blend of mystery, humor, and unexpected twists, all set against the backdrop of Japan’s vibrant culture.
Created by Katie Robbins, directed by Lucy Tcherniak, and executive produced by Rashida Jones, “Sunny” boasts a talented cast, including Hidetoshi Nishijima, Joanna Sotomura, Judy Ongg, YOU, annie the clumsy, and Jun Kunimura. The series, produced in collaboration with A24, is based on the award-winning book “The Dark Manual” by Colin O’Sullivan.
“Sunny” premieres globally on Apple TV+ on July 10th, with the first two episodes available immediately, followed by weekly releases until September 4th.
