Apple TV+ teams up with Gordon Ramsay for Michelin Star docuseries

Apple TV+ is adding a new culinary docuseries to its growing slate of original content with Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, an eight-episode series executive produced by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. The series, which has no confirmed release date yet, promises an inside look at the relentless pursuit of Michelin stars — the highest accolade in the culinary world.

Knife Edge will spotlight elite chefs at renowned restaurants across cities like Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, and Copenhagen, as they strive to either maintain their Michelin-starred status or earn it for the first time. The series is positioned to go beyond the plate, capturing the emotional, financial, and creative stakes behind each dish, service, and review.

The show will be hosted by Jesse Burgess, a respected food and travel journalist, who brings a more observational tone compared to Ramsay’s traditionally high-intensity television persona. “There’s no honor in any industry as prestigious and influential as the Michelin Star,” Burgess said in a press statement, emphasizing the series’ focus on obsession, risk, and craft in the world of fine dining.

Though Ramsay won’t appear on-screen in a central role, his influence as executive producer is notable. Known globally for Hell’s Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, and other high-drama food shows, Ramsay sees Knife Edge as a platform to spotlight a different side of the culinary world — one where perfection is pursued quietly under immense pressure, with little margin for error. “You cannot underestimate the unbelievable drive and sacrifice these chefs go through day in and day out,” Ramsay said, underscoring the emotional toll behind chasing recognition from the Michelin Guide.

The show also explores a unique dynamic: Michelin inspectors operate under complete anonymity, often using false identities while dining, adding another layer of psychological tension to the chefs’ already demanding work.

Knife Edge joins a growing list of food-focused documentaries and series on streaming platforms, reflecting an increased appetite for programming that explores the intersection of art, ambition, and gastronomy. Unlike competition-based shows, this docuseries aims for an immersive, vérité-style lens, giving viewers rare access to the kitchens, philosophies, and personal stakes behind some of the most celebrated restaurants in the world.

With the global visibility of Apple TV+ and Ramsay’s brand attached, Knife Edge is well positioned to resonate with both culinary professionals and viewers who crave insight into the unseen intensity behind a luxury dining experience. While a premiere date has not yet been announced, the series is expected to launch in late 2025 or early 2026.
