Alien: Earth teaser drops, and it’s literally earth… and an alien

Well, folks, FX just dropped the teaser trailer for their new Alien TV show, and it’s exactly what it says on the tin: Earth…and an Alien. Groundbreaking, I know. Fifteen whole seconds of our beautiful planet reflected in the shiny head of everyone’s favorite phallic nightmare monster. Because nothing screams “subtlety” like a giant Xenomorph cranium.

But hey, at least we know a few things about the show now. It’s a prequel, set 30 years before the original Alien movie (you know, the one that actually had a plot). Noah Hawley, the guy behind Fargo, is running the show, so expect lots of snow and awkward conversations. And Ridley Scott’s on board as an executive producer, so maybe we’ll get some stylish shots of people getting their chests burst open.

The cast is a mixed bag of familiar faces and newcomers, all ready to be sacrificed to the space-faring kitty cat. We’ve got Sydney Chandler from Don’t Worry Darling, Timothy Olyphant from Justified (hopefully, he brought his hat), and a bunch of other folks who are probably really nice in real life but are destined to become alien chow.

Oh, and did I mention this isn’t the first time the Xenomorphs have visited Earth? Nope, they’ve been here before, thanks to those wonderful Predator crossover movies. Because nothing says “cinematic masterpiece” like watching two iconic monsters duke it out in a poorly lit forest.

So yeah, Alien: Earth is coming in 2025. Get ready for more facehuggers, chestbursters, and existential dread. Just don’t expect anything too original or surprising. After all, it’s just Earth… and an Alien.
