Love is complicated, snacks are essential: a funny, nerd-approved Valentine’s movie night on Disney+

Valentine’s Day has a funny way of dividing people into very specific camps: the romantics with reservations at suspiciously expensive restaurants, the proud skeptics insisting it is a social construct, and the quietly superior group that just wants snacks and something good to watch. For all of them, a well-planned movie night remains the most reliable option. No awkward silences, no dress code, and no pressure to pretend every love story needs a happy ending. A Valentine’s movie night on Disney+ works precisely because it does not insist on one definition of love, or even romance at all.

Some of the newer picks lean into chaos, which feels appropriate for the state of modern relationships. Tell Me Lies is less about romance and more about emotional decisions you immediately regret but somehow keep repeating. It is tense, uncomfortable, and strangely addictive, making it ideal viewing for anyone who enjoys shouting “do not text him” at the screen.

If that sounds exhausting, Abbott Elementary offers a welcome reset. Its humor comes from small victories, workplace survival, and relationships built on mutual respect rather than grand gestures. Love here looks like support, patience, and the occasional well-timed joke. The Roses sits somewhere in between, peeling back the layers of a marriage that appears perfect until it very much is not, proving once again that calm surfaces often hide the best drama.

Then there are the pairings that remind us Valentine’s Day does not need romance to be compelling. The Devil Wears Prada remains a masterclass in complicated dynamics, professional ambition, and learning who you are while wearing increasingly questionable shoes. Zootopia thrives on banter and reluctant teamwork, turning an unlikely partnership into something genuinely earned. Lilo & Stitch doubles down on the idea that family is often improvised, loud, and held together by persistence rather than perfection.

For those who like their Valentine’s viewing with a side of emotional whiplash, the classics still deliver. (500) Days of Summer remains a reminder that perspective is everything and that not every story labeled “romantic” actually is. The Last Song leans into sentiment without irony, ideal for viewers who enjoy a sincere tear or two. 10 Things I Hate About You continues to hold up thanks to sharp dialogue, genuine chemistry, and the rare ability to be both clever and fun without trying too hard.

Taken together, this lineup makes a strong case for a Valentine’s movie night that is relaxed, slightly geeky, and refreshingly honest. Whether you are celebrating love, avoiding it, or just here for the popcorn, these stories understand that connection is messy, funny, and rarely straightforward. Which, frankly, makes them much easier to enjoy.
