Every movie trailer that aired during Super Bowl 2026, from legacy sequels to new sci-fi

Super Bowl 2026 once again reinforced the event’s role as a high-visibility launchpad for major studio releases, with movie trailers spread across the main broadcast and adjacent programming like the Puppy Bowl. While recent Super Bowls leaned heavily on interconnected superhero franchises, this year’s lineup reflected a broader mix of legacy sequels, animation, and director-driven projects, suggesting studios are recalibrating how they use premium advertising space.

Among the most closely watched previews was Scream 7, which continues the long-running horror series by tying its latest story directly to the original 1996 film. The footage positions Ghostface as a returning force rather than a reinvention, with familiar characters pulled back into danger alongside a younger generation. The emphasis appears less on shocking twists and more on legacy, a strategy that mirrors how many older franchises are now extending their shelf life.

Animation also had a strong presence, led by The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The Super Bowl spot leaned into spectacle and recognizable characters rather than plot, briefly showcasing expanded corners of Nintendo’s universe. Like its predecessor, the appeal rests on brand familiarity and ensemble voice casting, with Illumination continuing its approach of broad, family-friendly humor designed for global audiences.

DC Studios opted for an unconventional release window by unveiling new footage for Supergirl during the Puppy Bowl rather than the main game. The teaser focused on character tone rather than action, signaling a more introspective take on Kara Zor-El that aligns with the source material’s emphasis on trauma and moral reckoning.

Science fiction also made a notable showing. Project Hail Mary received a shortened Super Bowl cut, highlighting its central mystery without overexplaining the premise. The trailer framed the story as a problem-solving narrative built around isolation and cooperation, setting it apart from more effects-driven space films.

Family-oriented animation continued with Hoppers, which uses body-swapping technology as a narrative device to explore environmental themes. The Super Bowl footage leaned into humor while hinting at a familiar Pixar structure built around empathy and communication.

One of the more closely scrutinized live-action previews was Disclosure Day, a return to extraterrestrial subject matter from Steven Spielberg. The trailer avoided clear answers, instead focusing on public reaction and uncertainty, suggesting a measured, suspense-driven approach rather than large-scale invasion spectacle.

Lucasfilm used the game to remind audiences that its streaming success is moving into theaters with The Mandalorian and Grogu. The spot functioned more as a tone-setter than a traditional trailer, emphasizing character familiarity over plot details.

Universal rounded out the night’s animation push with Minions & Monsters, formally revealing the title and direction of the next Minions installment. The emphasis remains squarely on chaotic comedy and viral-friendly moments.

Finally, one of the most discussed trailers never officially appeared online. The Adventures of Cliff Booth surfaced through unofficial clips, drawing attention largely because of the creative team involved and its connection to an Oscar-winning predecessor.

The Super Bowl 2026 trailers suggest studios are prioritizing recognizable properties while experimenting with tone and placement, using the event less as a platform for surprise and more as a confirmation of what audiences already know is coming.
