Anime fans in the Middle East and North Africa now have a new home for their favorite shows. TOD, the regional streaming platform best known for its sports coverage, has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring a slate of popular anime from Crunchyroll to subscribers across the region.
The move marks TOD’s first foray into anime and includes some of the most recognizable titles in recent years. Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, Dr. Stone, Tokyo Revengers, One Punch Man, Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World, The Rising of the Shield Hero, The God of High School, and Log Horizon are all now available to stream.
By adding Crunchyroll’s lineup, TOD is expanding beyond its core of sports and mainstream entertainment to tap into one of the fastest-growing fan communities worldwide. Anime has steadily gained traction across MENA, with countries like Egypt, the UAE, Kuwait, and Iraq emerging as key markets where demand is surging. TOD says the new offering has already been well-received by regional audiences.
For the platform, the deal with Crunchyroll fits into a broader strategy of diversifying its catalog and appealing to a wider range of subscribers. TOD currently offers more than 60,000 hours of Arabic, Turkish, Western, and children’s entertainment, alongside its flagship live sports coverage, which includes major rights to the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, La Liga, Formula 1, and all four tennis Grand Slams.
The addition of anime now gives TOD an extra dimension—bringing high-energy action, supernatural storylines, and fan-favorite characters to an audience that has long relied on global streaming platforms to access the genre. With Crunchyroll’s library now integrated, fans in the region can stream many of today’s biggest anime hits without leaving TOD’s ecosystem.
