Baywatch RETURNS! Get ready for more surf, sand, and red swimsuits

Baywatch is officially suiting up for a new era. The iconic lifeguard drama, once the most-watched TV show in the world, is getting a full reboot for the 2026–27 season with 12 brand-new episodes. Expect the same sun-soaked mix of pulse-pounding rescues, tangled romances, and over-the-top beach heroics—but updated with a fresh cast and contemporary storylines.

The revival is being steered by Matt Nix (Burn Notice, True Lies) alongside original creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, ensuring the DNA of the ’90s classic remains intact. Fans can look forward to new lifeguard recruits tackling modern dangers on California’s shores, while the signature blend of action and melodrama that made Baywatch a global phenomenon returns in full force.

For longtime fans, this isn’t just another reboot—it’s a continuation of a franchise that’s had an outsized impact on pop culture. The original series, which ran for 11 seasons, turned David Hasselhoff into an international star, launched Pamela Anderson into icon status, and even gave a young Jason Momoa his breakout role. It spawned spinoffs like the bizarre detective series Baywatch Nights, was reimagined in a 2017 comedy film with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, and even inspired documentaries that dug into the show’s improbable worldwide success.

Now, with a new generation of lifeguards preparing to hit the sand, the reboot has the chance to both honor the campy, slow-motion legacy and reinvent the formula for a modern audience. Whether it embraces the earnest melodrama of the original or leans into the self-aware absurdity that fans love, one thing’s clear: Baywatch is back, and it’s ready to make another splash.
