Disney+ is expanding its Korean content lineup this April with the premiere of the romantic comedy Perfect Crown, a new series starring IU and Byeon Wooseok that marks their first time sharing the screen.
Set to debut on April 10, Perfect Crown centers on Huiju, a conglomerate heiress from a commoner background, and Grand Prince I-AN, one of the country’s most admired royals. Their marriage begins as a calculated arrangement meant to serve both parties’ interests, but it quickly draws public scrutiny and external pressures. As the pair navigates the fallout, what starts as a pragmatic partnership gradually gives way to unexpected feelings, shifting the story into more unpredictable territory.
The series releases its first episode on April 10 and the second on April 11, followed by two new episodes each Friday and Saturday. It is directed by Park Joonhwa, whose previous work includes Alchemy of Souls and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim, and written by Yoo Jiwon.
IU, known for roles in When Life Gives You Tangerines and My Mister, takes on the part of Huiju, while Byeon Wooseok, recognized from Lovely Runner and Strong Girl Nam-soon, portrays the grand prince. The pairing has generated interest among viewers familiar with both actors’ recent projects.
Later in the month, on April 29, Disney+ will add Gold Land, a crime thriller featuring Park Boyoung as Heeju, a part-time worker whose ordinary life unravels after she accepts a job at Yangyang Airport. Drawn into a scheme involving a charismatic co-pilot and hidden cargo, she discovers a syndicate smuggling gold and decides to pursue her own cut. The situation soon escalates into a tense pursuit marked by betrayal and high stakes, testing her ability to survive in a world where alliances prove unreliable.
From April 22, two additional dramas arrive: The Nice Guy, which follows a soft-hearted gangster hoping for a fresh start and an aspiring singer pursuing her ambitions, and Our Movie, centered on a struggling filmmaker whose path crosses with a terminally ill woman, leading to renewed purpose and emotional connection.
Further Korean titles scheduled for later in 2026 include the second seasons of A Shop For Killers and Made In Korea, along with Doctor on the Edge starring Lee Jae-Wook and Shin Ye-Eun, The Remarried Empress with Shin Mina, Ju Jihoon, Lee Jongsuk, and Lee Seyoung, and Portraits of Delusion featuring Kim Seon-ho, Bae Suzy, and Kim Young-kwang.
The rollout reflects Disney+’s continued push into Korean dramas and thrillers, a category that has grown steadily on the platform alongside its core family and franchise offerings. While the service maintains a broad catalog that includes Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic content, the addition of these localized series provides more options for audiences interested in character-driven stories from South Korea.
Perfect Crown and the accompanying April releases offer a mix of romance, suspense, and emotional narratives that align with the rising global appeal of Korean television.
