Apple TV has added another international title to its growing slate of original programming with La Décision, a French political thriller starring Diane Kruger and Raphaël Personnaz. The seven-episode series explores power, secrecy, and the moral costs of leadership, set against the backdrop of a national crisis inside France’s highest political office.
The story opens with the kidnapping of the French president’s eight-year-old daughter — a child the public doesn’t know exists. Born from an affair, the girl’s existence has been concealed from the president’s wife and his closest advisors. When she is taken, what begins as a private tragedy escalates into a public emergency, forcing the president to confront both his personal failures and the machinery of political control surrounding him.
Kruger and Personnaz lead a cast that embodies the collision between personal loyalty and public responsibility. As the Élysée Palace moves to contain the situation, the narrative examines how moral clarity erodes under pressure and how the weight of office can distort even the most well-intentioned choices. Apple TV describes the series as a blend of high-stakes political drama and psychological thriller, designed to balance the emotional tension of a family story with the suspense of a crisis thriller.
La Décision is produced by Solab Films, White Lion Films, and M Films, with executive producers Nicholas Tiry, Noor Sadar, and Bourboulon. It continues Apple TV’s ongoing expansion into European storytelling following successes such as Drops of God, which won the International Emmy Award for Best French-Japanese Drama, and the upcoming The Hunt.
The launch of La Décision underscores Apple TV’s strategy of diversifying its international portfolio, placing an emphasis on authentic regional narratives with strong cinematic production values. By developing original projects across Europe and beyond, the platform aims to deepen its global reach while appealing to audiences seeking nuanced, character-driven storytelling.
