A few months back we reported that Google is developing a gameplay-streaming platform that is similar to Twitch. According to sources from TechCrunch, the service is set to launch shortly in the US and the UK.
Gamers are pretty familiar with Twitch, a game-streaming service that allows users to stream their own gameplay and for others to watch, proving to be very popular among the gaming community. Google knows this, and with the plethora of walkthroughs and “let’s play” videos on YouTube, the market is obviously ripe and very active.
Whether Google’s service becomes more popular than Twitch remains to be seen, but Google seems to have big plans for YouTube Gaming. We will wait and see.
