Windows 9 is set to be unveiled on September 9th and bring a major change in design and features. According to the Verge, Microsoft is planning to hold a special press event on September 30 to show off Windows 9.
“Threshold”, the code name for the new Windows 9 will come with many new and enhanced features like: A mini Start menu returning to the desktop, “Windowed” Metro-style apps, Virtual desktops, Cortana integration and Removal of the Charm bar
The Verge also said, Microsoft will be showcasing the new features during the event with the company launching the operating system as a beta preview soon thereafter.
Microsoft has also said to be testing a new rapid-upgrade feature that allows Windows to be updated with a single button click, though it’s still not clear that the feature will make it into the public release yet.
