It’s a new year filled with exciting new technology and devices, none of which is hampering Windows 10’s growth rate as it recently surpassed being utilised on over 200 million devices worldwide.
This isn’t surprising considering that Windows 10 has a bigger adoption rating than it’s predecessors, outpacing Windows 7 by nearly 140% and Windows 8 by a whopping 400%. Though I guess the latter figure isn’t surprising. What’s astonishing though is the fact that the adoption rate seems to be accelerating, as over 40% of the current Windows 10 devices became active since November of last year. That’s 80 million devices that either upgraded to Windows 10 or were bought with Windows 10 activated in two months. And expect that number to grow as there are only two smartphones with Windows 10 mobile out yet, the rest will be updated to Windows 10 this year.
Here are some fun facts Microsoft revealed about Windows 10:
-
Over 44.5 billion minutes spent in Microsoft Edge across Windows 10 devices in just the last month.
-
Over 2.5 billion questions asked of Cortana since launch.
-
Around 30% more Bing search queries per Windows 10 device vs. prior versions of Windows.
-
Over 82 billion photos viewed within the Windows 10 Photo app.
-
Gaming continues to grow on Windows 10 – in 2015, gamers spent over 4 billion hours playing PC games on Windows 10. Gamers have streamed more than 6.6 million hours of Xbox One games to Windows 10 PCs.
You can expect these figures to keep rising in 2016.
