Another year, another round of “gate” madness is here. This year, it’s called #BendGate.
So what is #BendGate?
Some iPhone 6 Plus users have reported in the past few days some serious bending issue while keeping the devices in their jeans pockets for a prolonged period of time when sitting.
Yesterday, I left at 10am with the iPhone in my left FRONT pocket of my suit pants. I drove 4 hours to a wedding, which also involved a lot of sitting during dinner etc but also 2-3 hours of dancing. I left at 2am and went to bed, driving home 4 hours back. So in total, the 6 Plus was about 18 hours in my pocket while sitting mostly.
As I lay it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch to relax from the drive (yes, sitting again ), I saw the reflection of the window in the iPhones slightly distorted. One user said.
This is not the first time we hear about phones bending in pockets, Sony’s Xperia got its share of news too and so did the iPhone 5s last year.
“Unbox Therapy” have put the iPhone 6 plus to the test, and this is the result:
#BendGate already making its way to the trending section on twitter and competing brands such as LG quickly jumped on opportunity to mock Apple and promote their G Flex phone.
Apple hasn’t commented yet on the issue, but we’ll surely keep you posted on any official response.
