It’s been two years since Wileyfox has emerged into the smartphone market with its Swift smartphone. Since then, the UK-based smartphone makers has launched a successor, the Wileyfox Swift 2. And now, the next in the line of Swift phones is coming out; the Wileyfox Swift 2X.
The Swift 2X comes with a 5.2-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. Powering the device is an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 64-bit processor that’s augmented by 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 505 GPU for graphical processing. The onboard memory is 32GB that can be further extended up to 64GB via microSD card, but you’ll be sacrificing the Nano SIM card slot to do so. Don’t worry, it’s a dual SIM device, so you can still place your calls, albeit through a micro SIM card slot. For security, there will be a fingerprint sensor.
Here’s the interesting part, out of the box, the Swift 2X will run Cyanogen OS v13.1 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Now, Wileyfox has always run Cyanogen on their smartphones, however, Cyanogen is now officially dead. The Cyanogen mod was officially shuttered back in 2016, though the same team is now working on “Lineage”, a new OS. Whether the smartphone will receive updates is unlikely.
For your aesthetic Instagram needs, the device will come with a 16MP rear camera with Dual LED Flash and a Samsung 3L8 ISOCELL sensor with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and capable of 1080p video recording. For Snapchat, you have an 8MP front-facing camera.
Battery wise, you’ll have a 3010 mAh battery that can be quickly charged via the USB-C port and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The Wileyfox Swift 2X weighs 155 grammes & measures 144 mm × 72.2 mm × 8.8 mm in size. The Wileyfox Swift 2X is currently being priced at GBP 219.99 and is exclusive to the UK, though that may change in the future.
