The iPhone 6s has dropped “the thinnest and lightest” approach this year. Both new models are actually heavier than last year’s models and contrary to what initial reports suggested, the weight gain is not due to the new 7000 series aluminum used, but rather attributable to the new 3D Touch display. Apple said it has added a new layer of sensors to the display to measure pressure.
According to official environmental documents, the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus displays weighs twice as much, jumping from 12 grams to 24.
Dadaviz have put together a chart showing the weight fluctuation for every single iPhone since the first release back in 2007. the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s were the lightest.
