It seems that browser wars did not end just yet and project Spartan has another contender to worry about.
Meet Vivaldi:
Vivaldi is a new browser, available for Windows, Mac and Linux developed by Jon von Tetzchner, the man who founded the Opera browser.
The first preview of Vivaldi launched and is aimed at geeks and power users with features like Quick Commands, an Opera-like bookmarks Speed Dial, note-taking and screenshots feature.
We are making a browser for our friends,” von Tetzchner told TechCrunch, Vivaldi is for all those people who want more from their browsers
Vivaldi also has some new features like multiple tabs, or “tab stack” that can combine tabs into one for easier browsing.
After I quit, Opera changed their philosophy. They made kind of a browser that’s more in line with most of the other browsers and doesn’t have a lot of features. The focus is in a way on making the browser disappear, and I think there’s a lot of people that want something different, von Tetzchner told Gigaom
The new browser is in a technical preview stage, with plans to launch in the coming few months with additional features like sync, mail and extensions.
