In one of the bigger app updates recently, Google brings the much-awaited offline mode functionality to Google Maps along with a few other nifty options.
Now when you search for a location, you can tap anywhere on the map and be able to save area for offline viewing. You can then view and manage the offline maps through your profile.
Google Maps can also now tell you whether you should stay in your lane or shift lanes where traffic is easier – though I suspect if everyone would use it then the alternative lane would be congested as well eventually. But it certainly is an advanced feature to have so why not, right?
You also now have the ability to launch and book a cab through Uber right from Google Maps (it will launch the Uber app).
