The service also rolls out to 21 other cities

Uber UAE recently celebrated its third birthday by sending out cupcakes to its customers and giving a lucky few a chance to tour Dubai in a helicopter. But food isn’t something Uber has only relegated to its birthday celebrations. UberEats has been operating in six different cities around the world but will now scale up operations to twenty-two more, including Dubai.

“UberEats is now available in 22 cities across seven countries. Dubai is [the] first in the Middle East and Africa to experience this new service from Uber. UberEats is launching in Dubai on Thursday (tomorrow). One of the main selling points that set’s it apart from its competitors is that the service will be available until 5am on weekends”

– Jambu Palaniappan, head of UberEats for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

UberEats is separate from the Uber we know off and should open more opportunities to driver-partners. The company has spent more than $250 million expanding its service across the Middle-East, with Dubai being the first city to operate the service. Mr. Palaniappan told Khaleej Times that UberEats will help local restaurants reach new customers and satisfy loyal patrons at higher levels of profitability. Furthermore, the new business model will also help people in [the] transport [field] and [that] even deliveries will be ensured through motorbikes and scooters.

“Popular restaurants featured on the platform have more than doubled their daily orders selling through UberEats, and some restaurants report their overall sales have increased by more than 20 per cent since partnering with UberEats in soft launch.”

UberEats App Dubai

Much like the normal Uber app, the UberEats app is fairly straightforward to use. The app will determine your location based on your GPS, WiFi and other factors. Your location will in turn result in UberEats serving up a collection of nearby restaurants (that have signed to the UberEats program), letting you pick one, and choose a meal from the menu. The UberEats app can then be used to track your order, with a bill being sent to your email.
