We’ve all been subjected to twitter’s 140-character limitations, and often that’s a good thing – it helps you be more concise in your writing – but it’s a problem when you want to add to an existing conversation.
Retweeting in its current state is either through a retweet (directly sharing the tweet) or by quoting a tweet. The latter is problematic if the original tweet is long; it eats up from your 140 characters. Twitter is experimenting with changing how that function works.
The new method – which we hope will roll out to everyone and not get canned – is that the tweet would become an embedded card, giving you 140 characters to comment on it. I personally am looking forward to this change as it opens up a whole new world of tweeting effectively, but at the moment it is still an experiment so all we can do is wait and hope it comes as an update sometime soon.
