Twitter feeds can get rather messy, with the noise-to-signal ratio tilting more towards noise if you don’t have proper feeds, filters, and lists (in the apps, not on web). The company wants to help cut through some of the noise by introducing a Quality Filter control.

This new filter has been in testing for the past year, and it works by dissecting the tweet’s account origin and behaviour, what seems to be automated, and then either removes it from your timeline or keeps it. It does not filter content from people you follow or accounts you’ve recently interacted with.
Another filter that is now rolling out to the public is the ability to receive notifications only from the people you follow (admittedly, I had this for a while). Both filters can be accessed through the settings menu and can be switched on and off at any time.
