Access for the disabled is part of the code in building design, but often one may face difficulty in navigating or moving around these venues, or the extent of aid that these venues provide for various forms of disability. As part of integrating the disabled even more into society, a joint effort between Sasol, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Qatar Tourism Authority, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the Translation and Interpreting Institute and Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, an app and website have been launched to help the disabled find venues that cater to their needs.
The venues are colour coded depending on the accessibility; green indicates the venue is accessible, orange means it is partially accessible, and red indicates it is not accessible. Additionally, specifics around the means of accessibility are shown; for example, a wheelchair user will be able to see whether the venue has ramps and lifts.
The website can be accessed here, with the iOS version here and android here.
