This Buddha statue has mummy hidden inside! Now that’s something you don’t see or hear everyday.
A CT scan revealed that a Buddha statue on exhibit at the Netherlands’ Drents Museum contains the remains of a monk who lived “around the year 1100”.
Dutch scientists also took samples of the mummy’s insides and discovered remains of papers with ancient Chinese characters on them. Bone fragments from the mummy has been taken for DNA testing.
The mummy was moved to Budapest after the scan, where it will be on display at the Hungarian Natural History Museum until May.
