After the astounding success (it took on of the top prizes at the Cannes Grand Prix festival) of last year’s “Shot on iPhone 6” ad campaign that dotted billboards and advertising spaces across the country, Apple have announced a comeback of the campaign featuring the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
From February 11th onwards images taken on an iPhone 6s from people across the globe will start appearing on billboards across the UAE and cities around the world. The theme this year takes on a more human approach and focuses on people, covering the world with pictures taken by both professional photographers and your everyday iPhone user, to create an exhibit that captures the beauty and essence of everyday moments, whether it’s a child licking candy floss off of their hand or a mother embracing their child.

“The diversity of the pictures in the campaign shows the capabilities of the iPhone 6s camera and the crisp pictures it can capture. You can see a different mood in each shot, some were still while others were taken in motion. Looking at the overall campaign, it encourages us to use the iPhone 6s as a reliable camera and is an inspiration to everyone who loves photography and has the eye and the sense to capture the right moment.”
– Banan Alawneh, Creative Director and Photographer based in the UAE

The gallery includes found, non-commissioned iPhone 6s images which Apple found after scouring through thousands of images in an attempt to enhance the belief that a great picture taken with an iPhone 6s was the result of the person behind the lens. Shot on iPhone 6s features the work of a diverse group of people, which spans a wide range of backgrounds, nationalities, ages, professions, culture and photography experience. The initiative’s geographical scale makes it possibly the largest mobile photography gallery in history and will serve as an inspiration to would be photographers such as myself.

“It’s great to see that portraits of everyday people are being featured in the new campaign. Portraits are more than mere depictions of individuals; they can capture the essence of the subject in a way that no other medium can and portraits also say a lot about our time and the environment around us. And because we always have our phones with us, there are unlimited opportunities to capture people in their element and I’m excited to see all the images from the campaign.”
– Mohamed Somji, Director of Gulf Photo Plus (Dubai’s Photography Centre)

The Shot on iPhone 6s World Gallery is comprised of 53 images from 41 individuals across the globe and will be featured in 85 cities across 26 countries.
