You know the saying, “Karma comes after everyone eventually. You can’t get away with screwing people over your whole life, I don’t care who you are. What goes around comes around. That’s how it works. Sooner or later the universe will serve you the revenge that you deserve.” It’s quite foreboding and not something to take lightly, a feeling GoPro wishes to encapsulate in their new drone that they announced in a video.
The drone will be a quadcopter and it’s expected to launch in the first half of 2016 according to GoPro CEO Nick Woodman. While the price is still up for speculation, GoPro has always considered itself to be a consumer company so we can expect it to be somewhere in the price range as the drone from DJI, Parrot and 3D Robotics.
The Karma will be GoPro’s entry into the consumer drone market, one that is growing as fast as it is being regulated by the government. The biggest established force in that drone space is DJI, a company that already has $1 billion to its name, and one that is also quickly moving into GoPro’s territory of ground-based cameras and filmmaking. Another competitor would of course be Parrot.
While there is not hard information on the drone yet, Karma is expected to feature 4k filming capabilities. The only footage we have shot from the drone is the following video posted by the company:
