“The Big Bang Theory” has concluded its 8th season with a big – excuse the pun – bang: Chuck Lorre, the co-creator and executive producer, has announced the ‘Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment’ worth USD 4m for UCLA. The money is contributed by Chuck Lorre, the cast, as well as 50 others from the industry, including Warner Bros. Television and CBS.
Incidentally, Miyam Bialik received her Ph.D in neuroscience from UCLA.
Starting in the fall semester, 20 lucky prospects will be given funds based on need and academic merit. Five additional UCLA students will join the program every year.
“We have all been given a gift with The Big Bang Theory, a show that’s not only based in the scientific community, but also enthusiastically supported by that same community – this is our opportunity to give back. In that spirit, our Big Bang family has made a meaningful contribution, and together, we’ll share in the support of these future scholars, scientists and leaders.” – Lorre
All the best!
