We previously heard that Swatch was planning to join the smartwatch game, and now the company has confirmed it, and says it plans to directly compete with Apple.
The company plans to release a smartwatch that will connect to the internet without the need to be charged (hallelujah). Swatch CEO Nick Hayek said in an interview that the device will communicate via NFC and won’t have to be charged. Hayek went on saying that the watch would be designed for Android and Windows Phone without mentioning iOS.
The Swatch Group said that its planning to release the smartwatch in the next three months, coinciding with the April launch of the Apple Watch.
