Year after year, and sci-fi movie after the other, we have seen a long departure from the expert craftsmanship of sets, props, and ‘real life’ special effects in favour of digital and 3D effects layered on top of all those green and blue screens. Things will be a little different in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, however, as revealed in the Comic-Con BTS trailer below, which shows real life sets, props, miniature sets as well as extensive makeup work.
Nothing’s changed really … I mean everything’s changed but nothing’s changed. That’s the way you want it to be really. To see the way that technology has evolved, and yet keeping one foot in the pre-digital world.
Shots for Tatooine were filmed in the deserts of Abu Dhabi in May 2014. The movie will be released in December later this year.
