Spotify is pushing hard to maintain its customer base in the wake of the launch of Apple Music.
The company has announced that all subscribers can now save $3 per month by bypassing the app store subscription process and do it directly through their website. Spotify charges Premium subscribers $12.99 per month on iOS, mainly because Apple charges Spotify a 30% fee. Customers who sign up through the website can now pay only $9.99 per month. Spotify is sending e-mails to users explaining how to change their subscription.
How will Apple react to this e-mail? Will enough users actually adopt this method? It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.
