Smartphones and extreme temperatures don’t mix, specially in our region. Leave your car parked in the sun for 2 minutes and things can get ugly, really fast.
General Motors wants to solve this problem, and have introduced their new “Active Phone Cooling” which will be coming to several models. These include the 2016 Impala, Malibu and Cruze. (Of course this is a U.S roll out, we’ll try to get confirmation from GM Middle East on wether we’ll get some of that love over here).
So, what’s Active Phone Cooling?
An air vent connected directly to the car’s air conditioning and ventilation system is directed to the charging bin where the phone rests for wireless charging, sending cool air to help lower the phone’s temperature. GM says.
Basically, a dedicated AC duct for your smartphone.
I would love to have one of those in my car!
