Samsung unveils a new flexible battery

Samsung SDI, Samsung’s batteries and energy division has unveiled a new flexible battery.

The company has announced a thin, bendable, even rollable battery during a convention in South Korea. The battery, unlike any other model currently on the market, can be rolled to reach a U shape or folded and operate normally. The new battery has obviously been designed with smartbands and smartwatches in mind and most probably wearable devices in general.

According to Samsung, the product is still not ready to hit the market yet. The company said that the development stage is complete, but the technology needs time to be commercially available.

Samsung SDI hopes to commercialise the batteries within the next three years.
