After delaying the initial launch, it appears that Samsung is indeed planning to introduce the first smartphone powered by its in house developed operating system “Tizen”.
Latest reports suggest that Samsung is going for a low price smartphone (around $90) under the name of Samsung Z1 targeting budget phone markets with entry-level specifications.
We decided to release the Tizen phone in India on January 18, 2015. The price of the phone is set at less than 100,000 won, reported The Korea Economic Daily, quoting a Samsung spokesman.
The phone is expected to hit the Indian market by end of January 2015.
If the launch is successful, analysts say that the company will benefit from this new entry to the Indian market where Chinese companies currently dominate.
Tizen has been already used by Samsung on its smart wearables.
