As expected, Chinese handset maker OnePlus has officially announced the OnePlus 2 following weeks of leaks and rumors. As we’ve already confirmed before, the successor to the widely popular OnePlus 1 offers a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, dual-SIM support, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, wide-angle f/2.0 aperture 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and 64-bit 1.8GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor. Powered with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage.
Also following up to the likes of Apple and Samung, it has a fingerprint scanner and supposedly claims that it’s faster than TouchID. It comes with a USB-C port so it doesn’t matter how the cable goes in. It does not support wireless charging, a lack of a SD card slot, no quick charge and the clincher which makes the term flagship killer somewhat ironic, there’s no NFC. It’s a wonder where OnePlus aims to make a better affordable phone for the future but overlooked the prospect of wireless payments. If you’re set for getting this device, then get in line and hope you get lucky since you’ll have to score an invite to get one like before.
That said, OnePlus does seem to be setting the limit to how cheap a high spec phone can go. The OnePlus 2 will be priced at $389.99 for 64GB models with invitations and $329.99 for a 16 GB variant.
