Reports has surfaced suggesting that Netflix recently started blocking some users who use VPN and DNS proxies to stream the service outside of its allowed territory. The number of blocks is still very low and focused on multi sign-ins for now.
Netflix came under fire recently by movie and TV producers for allowing “VPN-pirates” to stream the service out of its designated region. Netflix is only available in few countries, all of which have a different content library.
This is a brand new development. A few weeks ago we received the first report from a handful of clients that Netflix blocked access due to VPN or proxy usage. This is the very first time I’ve ever heard Netflix displaying this type of error message to a VPN user, TorGuard’s Ben Van der Pelt told torrentfreak.com.
It also appears that the Netflix Android app have been updated to block DNS bypassing and forcing users to use Google DNS.
Netflix has denied applying these changes as per Engadget.
