Companies are on an acquisition roll recently, the latest being fitness app Moves getting acquired by Facebook.
What does Facebook want with a fitness app? Given every major company’s interest in fitness and health apps, it doesn’t come as a surprise – but for Facebook, the customer information and heath habits and movement tracking could reap great targeted ads revenues. It could also be used to bolster Facebook’s activities-related status update (I am reading, I am watching, I am eating, etc) and link them to more pages.
Fitness is going to be a competitive landscape for sure and one to keep an eye out for.
